Prince’s untimely death on Thursday came a week after his final concerts at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre on April 14, part of his “Piano & a Microphone” tour, which featured the artist performing alone on stage, with only a piano. A brief video of his performance of “Purple Rain” from the last of these shows surfaced on Twitter earlier in the week. Now a recording of the entire concert has appeared on Soundcloud.
Prince performed stripped-down arrangements of songs from throughout his career, as well as covers as varied as “When Will We Be Paid,” by the Staple Singers, Bob Marley’s “Wait in Vain,” and Peanuts theme “Linus and Lucy,” by Vince Guaraldi. (He actually returned to “Linus and Lucy” more than once, quoting it in the middle of “Nothing Compares 2 U.”) And of course, there’s his third-encore version of “Purple Rain,” arranged in a medley with “The Beautiful Ones” and “Diamonds and Pearls.” One of the lucky few to hear the show live was singer Janelle Monáe:
Prince. In Atlanta. At the FOX Theatre. With just a piano. Greatest ever. RE inspired all over again.

CeeLo Green was also there and tweeted a photo of the stage:

But now everyone has the chance to hear Prince hold an audience in the palm of his hand for the last time.
