Jessica Grose praises Showtime's new dark comedy Shameless, starring William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum, about an alcoholic single father and his passel of kids in Chicago. It airs Sundays at 10 p.m. She also recommends comedian Marc Maron's WTF Podcast and Dan Saltzstein's profile of Maron in the New York Times.

Hanna Rosin thinks you should watch the original U.K. version of the teen drama Skins so that you can be one of those snobs who says, "The British version was so much better" when the American version premieres on MTV on Monday. (Click here for a scathing preview of the U.S. remake.)
