Our Own American Idol VoteA Slate video survey reveals who should lose.
Updated Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at 3:31 PM ET
It isn't quite the 2000 Florida election debacle … yet. But this season's edition of American Idol and its breakaway star, the less-than-stellar crooner Sanjaya Malakar, have raised questions about voting integrity. With Howard Stern and Web sites like Vote for the Worst urging people to support Sanjaya despite—or is it because of?—his musical limitations, that magical bond of trust between the voting public and its favorite electoral contest could be in serious danger of dissolving.
Have no fear. Our partners at MediaCurves have stepped in with a survey of 1,210 Americans, taken last night, which shows who should have won and lost the latest competition. MediaCurves played video of the eight contestants for all the survey participants over the Web and recorded both their real-time reactions to each performance and their overall rating of each singer. Play the video below to see what our survey group thought:
And for more detailed results of the survey, click on this graph:
Compare our results—which limit the influence of lobbying from Howard Stern or anyone else—with the actual winners and losers when they're announced later tonight on Fox. Are the right contestants riding high or packing their bags? Where did Sanjaya rank?
And join us next week for another edition of American Idol: The Survey.
