Grading Bush's Veto ThreatA Slate video news graph.

Yesterday, President Bush held a defiant news conference in the White House Rose Garden in which he challenged congressional Democrats to send him an Iraq war funding bill without a timetable for pulling out U.S. troops. We asked our partners at MediaCurves to play a key clip from Bush's news conference to a survey group and record their reactions. You can watch the results by clicking on the video player below.
You can also click on the graph below, which offers further details of last night's MediaCurves survey.
MediaCurves News Graphs are compiled by market-research firm HCD Research. HCD surveys people over the Internet by allowing participants to rate a video as they watch it on their computers; HCD then displays the results on a graph as the video plays. In this case, HCD played a clip of Bush's news conference for a group of 609 Democrats, Republicans, and independents. Participants were asked to rate their level of agreement with what President Bush was saying at any given moment on a sliding scale that ranges from 100 percent (total agreement) to -100 percent (total disagreement). Each colored graph represents the average of the responses from everyone of that party affiliation.
