With 4:22 to go in the fourth quarter of Game 6 of the NBA Finals, Steph Curry fouled LeBron James in the backcourt. It was Curry's sixth and final foul of the game, and with the Warriors already down 12, the game was pretty much over at that point for Golden State. Curry made sure he didn't have to stick around to watch the end, yanking out his famous mouth guard and letting it rip into the stands. With trademark (albeit unintentional) accuracy, the best shooter of all time nailed a dude that happened to be taunting him with a goodbye wave.
Shall we watch that in super slow motion? We shall.
The two-time NBA MVP was immediately ejected from the court, forced to walk back to the locker room and think about what he'd done.
The Cavaliers won 115–101. Game 7 is Sunday night in Oakland, California, and there will now probably be lots of talk about whether Curry should be suspended for that winner-take-all contest. That is dumb. Let the man play! He apologized after all.
ESPN's Tom Haberstroh talked to the fan after the game. He seemed fine with the whole thing:
Just ran into the courtside fan who got drilled in the face by Steph Curry's mouthguard. "It's all good. It just hit me and I was like, 'Who? What?' I was just cheering, being a fan. I don't even know where he was throwing it. It just hit me in the face. He was good about it."
Now, let's watch an extended cut of Steph Curry nailing that guy with his disgusting mouth guard.
