A surprise was in store for fans who attended the 25th anniversary screening of Beauty and the Beast on Sunday evening. After the film ended, and to the palpable excitement of audience, original cast member Angela Lansbury graced the stage to sing the Disney musical’s iconic title song “Beauty and the Beast,” with original composer Alan Menken on piano.

The performance was as beautifully done as it was unexpected, and it was the perfect exercise in nostalgia to cap off a night that aimed to recapture some of that old Disney magic. Lansbury even threw in a lovely nod to her Beauty and the Beast character, Mrs. Potts, by closing with the line, “Run along and get in the cupboard, Chip.”
