St. Vincent Returns Home, Sings the National Anthem at a Little League Game in New Short Doc

St. Vincent stares out at the Texas landscape.
St. Vincent, at home in Texas.

Still from the doc

Annie Clark, a.k.a. St. Vincent, a.k.a the reigning catsuit-clad goddess of rock, gives us a glimpse of her home state of Texas in a new short documentary. Directed by Alan Del Rio Ortiz, who followed Clark on most of her Digital Witness tour, the film shows her walking naked through a field à la “Rattlesnake,” successfully climbing a boulder in heeled booties, and singing a thoroughly St. Vincent version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” before what appears to be a local Little League baseball game. Gorgeous shots of Clark walking through fields of tall grass are layered with a voiceover in which she talks about her passion for performance, her creative drive, and coffee popsicles (or, as she dubs them, “coffsicles”). Given the otherworldly vibe the singer-songwriter usually gives off, it’s rare thing to see her come down to earth.
