Jon Stewart’s last episode of the Daily Show is on Aug. 6, and now the tribute train is officially in motion: John Hodgman, one of the show's correspondents, showed up Thursday to honor Stewart’s “erudition”—and to offer a quick sendup of overly reverent tribute videos.

“You always set yourself apart from the other television rabble with your skills as a communicator—an eloquent orator blessed with the ability to articulate our nation’s frustrations or glee with a level of insight and passion that would make history’s greatest wordsmiths hang their head in shame,” Hodgman told Stewart.

Hodgman’s tribute video, which calls Stewart “A Pericles for America,” proves this beyond a doubt.
