Still from YITT's Vimeo

If there’s one thing that Carly Rae Jepsen’s “I Really Like You” is missing—and, to be clear, I’m not necessarily saying it’s missing anything—it might be just a bit of a darker edge. Fortunately, the producer YITT has given us just what we need: a mashup of Jeppo and Nine Inch Nails’ “Head Like a Hole.”

Trent Reznor’s anxious, emotive vocals turn out to be a great counterpoint to Jepsen’s candypop delivery, and the synth elements from the two songs make them natural besties. When we hit the chorus and hear “I really really really really really really like you” overlap with “I’d rather die than give you control,” it’s obvious we’ve got a new fantasy supergroup on our hands. With this and the recent Taylor Swift mashup, NIN may have found a new life as the perfect pop complement.
