It’s been 25 years since Meg Ryan introduced much of America to Katz’s Delicatessen by offering, in When Harry Met Sally, the most passionate response to a side of cole slaw ever seen. Even more firmly etched into moviegoers’ collective memory is the line delivered by a fellow diner, played by Estelle Reiner (mother of Rob, who directed the movie), in response: “I’ll have what she’s having.” It’s a testament to Nora Ephron’s screenwriting—though Ephron herself was careful to share the credit with Ryan and Rob Reiner—that these five words have since been repeated many, many times, particularly on TV.
MTV just compiled this supercut of small screen actors asking to have what she’s having. “She,” as you will see, has been everyone from Mindy Kaling (no surprise there) to Miss Piggy. It’s a fun couple of minutes, though it may leave you wondering what the writers of Family Guy were thinking when they decided Baby Stewie should try to give Meg Ryan a run for her money.
