Stream Beyoncé Producer BOOTS' Fantastic First Mixtape, WinterSpringSummerFall

This is basically the only picture of BOOTS.

If you have no idea who BOOTS is, you're not alone. The artist-producer is still somewhat of a mystery, but here's the basic rundown: his real name is Jordy Asher, he's a musician from Miami who cut his teeth fronting indie bands Blonds and Young Circles, and he broke onto the scene once Beyoncé dropped unannounced and it became clear that an unknown had produced 80% of the album, written four original songs for it, and played multiple instruments during its recording. Queen B, for her part, called him an "innovator" whom she "completely respects."

That meteoric and enigmatic rise has finally yielded some material, as the artist's first mixtape, WinterSpringSummerFall, was released today. It's a jarring medley of sounds and styles, similar in range to Beyoncé; my personal favorite is "Alright," which has BOOTS huskily rap over a pulsating fuzzbox of a guitar riff. Other highlights include "Dreams", which was previously released and features Beyoncé herself. Check out the whole album below.
