To celebrate the release her new R&B compilation Saint Heron—which features innovators and up-and-comers like Sampha, Jhené Aiko, Cassie, and Kelela—Solange Knowles has shared her own contribution, “Cash In.”

The album is meant to emphasize a diversity of new sounds—Solange took some music critics to task earlier this year for suggesting that R&B is only now becoming “interesting” and “experimental”—but the sound of Solange’s contribution is a bit more classic.

Over a bed of layered organs and a variety of tasteful, acoustic percussion, the song gradually and elegantly builds as the singer reaches higher and higher up in her range. As the harmonies grow, a choir of Solanges comes to surround the listener, and she sings about avoiding troubles by getting lost in music: “We don’t need to pay the rent/ Listen to this right here.” It’s a lush, gorgeous song to get lost in.
