The 1/2 Hour News Hour, billed as Fox News Channel's answer to The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, premieres Sunday night. It's a project of Joel Surnow, co-creator and executive producer of 24. Read more about it.

So how is the new show? Slate's Emily Bazelon, John Dickerson, and David Plotz are dubious. They offer commentary on a two-minute segment that turned up on YouTube.

David Plotz is the CEO of Atlas Obscura and host of the Slate Political Gabfest.

Andy Bowers, the creator and executive producer of Slate podcasts, is the co-founder and chief content officer of Panoply.

Emily Bazelon is a staff writer at the New York Times Magazine and the author of Sticks and Stones.
