Historic Gaffes Revisited

A new Slate video feature.

Starting today, Slate introduces an occasional video feature re-creating some of the more embarrassing or notorious moments of the recent political past. The videos are called "NewsLit Newsreels," and they're created by Liz Dubelman and Paca Thomas, the talented Web animation team behind VidLits. Today's introductory installment chronicles the sad tale of what happened to the man who saved the life of President Gerald Ford in 1975.
