Le Tigre will reunite for their first new music since 2004, frontwoman Kathleen Hanna has revealed on the Talkhouse Music podcast. While discussing Le Tigre’s music with Perfect Pussy’s Meredith Graves, Hanna said that Le Tigre “just got back together in the studio—you have the scoop—for a special song that we are going to release hopefully, like, early-to-mid-October.” You can hear Hanna discuss the reunion at the 15:08 mark.

Since Le Tigre’s last album, This Island, Hanna has been fronting the Julie Ruin, while her Le Tigre bandmates, Johanna Fateman and JD Samson, are the founders of electropop performance collective MEN. Hanna wouldn't specify whether the new song would be “thematic” or not but was careful to note that the Le Tigre reunion is limited to a single track so far and that the band has no plans for another album. Still, this is exciting news for fans of feminist punk.
