This Supercut of Movie Characters in the Throes of Writer’s Block Is Stressful and Also Exhilarating

To be a writer suffering from a drought of creativity is a miserable existence. “Writer’s Block,” a supercut of cinematic characters going enduring the titular affliction, captures its essence perfectly. Editors Ben Watts and Ivan Kander curate from an impressive array of films, including The Shining, Sunset Boulevard, Julie & Julia, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and unite all of these characters under the same intense, agonizing creative process.

The slow buildup is worth the wait, for once a spark has been reached, nothing is more joyous and freeing than the sudden rush of ideas—and “Writer’s Block” illustrates that moment effectively as well.
