We all know Spike Lee for Do The Right Thing and Malcolm X, but his breakout film was 1986's She's Gotta Have It. Three decades later, the director gave his career-launching movie an update in the form of a ten-part series on Netflix. While the 1986 movie featured an original score by his father, renowned bassist Bill Lee, the 2017 series has a playlist filled with pop, soul, jazz, and reggae -- each song selected by Spike himself. In Episode 3 of Showstopper, Lee reveals his deep connection to these tracks and how these musical choices shaped the narrative arc of the series.
