In the Aug. 25 "Chatterbox," Timothy Noah misspelled theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer's name. The correct spelling is Bonhoeffer, not Bonhoffer.

In the Aug. 23 "Press Box," Jack Shafer cited Crack in America in writing that Newsweek "published five cover stories about crack or the drug crisis in 1986." That count was an error, says the book's co-editor, Harry G. Levine, via e-mail. The erroneous sentence has been deleted.

In the Aug. 18 "Explainer," Daniel Engber mixed up the standard order for donning a pair of tefillin. Usually, you put on the head tefillin after you've wrapped the hand tefillin around your forearm (but before you wind its strap around your hand and finger).

In the Aug. 17 "Middlebrow," Bryan Curtis originally misspelled the name of The New Yorker magazine's mascot, Eustace Tilley.

In the Aug. 12 "In Other Magazines," Bidisha Banerjee incorrectly called William Buckingham the chair of the Harrisburg, Pa., school board. Buckingham is the chair of the Dover, Pa., school board's curriculum committee.
