Where Will LeBron James Play Next Year?

Slate readers put their money on Cleveland.

Tonight at 9 ET, in an address carried live by ESPN and sure to be rebroadcast eventually by the History Channel, LeBron James "will formally announce where he will play next season and beyond." The announcement show, called "The Decision," will end a week's worth of speculation about which team will win the right to pay James millions of dollars annually and immediately become a contender for the NBA title. James, who began his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003, became a free agent on July 1. He met with the Cavs, the Chicago Bulls, the Miami Heat, the New York Knicks, the New Jersey Nets, and the Los Angeles Clippers.

This morning we asked Slate readers to predict which team James would sign with. Even with sources saying that signs are pointing to Miami, 39 percent of the nearly 4,000 responses guessed that James would stay put in Cleveland.
