Work at Slate

We’re looking for a blogger/editor for our video team.

SlateV, the video arm of Slate, is in the market for a blogger/editor to preside over content and day-to-day editorial operations of our Trending News Channel video blog and custom channel on YouTube.

We need someone who has good editorial judgment and can oversee the selection of five daily trending stories on topics ranging from science and tech to politics and pop culture, as well as a weekly Explainer video. Candidates must be polished writers who can produce clean copy and headlines under deadline pressure. They must also be able to edit segment scripts written by others and work with producers to see these videos through to publication on Slate and YouTube and coordinate promotion on social media.

Applicants should have a minimum of three years’ experience in online and/or broadcast journalism. This is not a video production job, so technical skills like editing and shooting are not required. Social media acumen and hands-on familiarity with blog and YouTube publishing are a plus. This position is based in either New York or Washington.
