Slate Looking for a News Developer

Slate is looking for a journalist with programming skills to work out of its New York or Washington, D.C., office. In this contract position, the journalist/developer will develop data projects and interactive features for Slate and our sub-site Slate Labs. There will also be opportunities for writing stories with strong data elements.
Ideal candidates will have strong journalistic instincts as well as programming experience. Applicants should have a strong knowledge of JavaScript, a basic understanding of SQL, and familiarity with at least one server-side scripting language. This is a 12-month contract position, without benefits.
