Police and moviemakers have had nearly 60 years to figure out the mystery of Los Angeles' infamous "Black Dahlia" murder. Amazingly, the Brian De Palma film about the murder, which opened last Friday, seems as confused as the cops who first discovered Elizabeth Short's mutilated body in a field in 1947.

For help figuring out the movie (if not the real murder), we present Slate's latest Spoiler Special. Dana Stevens and Bryan Curtis try to untangle the film's complex (or is it nonsensical?) plot.
