DJ Earworm’s “Summermash ’16” Is a Masterful Mashup of Songs of the Summer

Crowning a definitive “Song of the Summer” is something of an annual tradition—one that started long before Iggy got fancy, Daft Punk got lucky, or Robin Thicke blurred the lines between inspiration and infringement. But celebrating your favorite songs doesn’t have to be quite so winner-take-all, and San Francisco’s DJ Earworm has built a career on that fact. Every December, he mashes up the year’s biggest, most ubiquitous hits into one great pop song, dubbed the “United State of Pop.”

Well, this year DJ Earworm just couldn’t wait to mash things up. Today he released his “Summermash ’16.” It’s a Frankenstein’s monster of summertime catchiness, with cameos from Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Drake, Rihanna, and many more. If you can make out all the hits, you’ve probably been doing the season right.
