Carly Rae Jepsen is back with “Making the Most of the Night,” a new single from her upcoming album E•MO•TION that combines the echoey quality of “Warm Blood” with the cheerful catchiness of “I Really Like You” and “Call Me Maybe.” The song is a nice blend of Jepsen’s endearing optimism and co-writer Sia’s emotional intensity, and the music box-like instrumental introduction and high-energy synthesizers give the song a youthful, summery vibe. The basic message? Carly Rae Jepsen loves you, and wants to kidnap you for a quick joyride to the beach. Her new album drops stateside on Aug. 21.
