Real-Life Male Strippers Reveal the Songs that Make Women Go Crazy

When you’re a male stripper working to fulfill women’s fantasies, you’ve got to have just the right song to set the mood, and it also has to gel with your onstage personality. For Magic Mike (Channing Tatum), of course, his signature dancing tune in the eponymous original 2012 film is Ginuwine’s “Pony”—the irresistible 90s jam known for its kitschy use of double entendre.

Just in time for the sequel, Magic Mike XXLwhich memorably resurrects the infamous song—we asked a few dancers from the all-male revue Hunk-O-Mania in New York City about the signature tunes and dance moves that get their female audiences going. And Slate staff writer Aisha Harris gamely received a few lap dances in the name of journalism.
