Stephen Colbert Takes a Stab at Composing His Own Late Show Theme Song

Stephen Colbert has much to do before he takes over the Late Show in September. But for now, he is focused on nailing down a theme song. So, he did what any of us would do: sat down at his desk and broke out the keyboard. The lyrics start off shaky—“What time is it? It’s late. What show is it? It’s show.”—but he really hits his stride in the second verse. And if Jon Batiste provides some jazzy backup music, it could really up Colbert’s theme-song game. Next up on his to-do list: “Things to say.”
