On Thursday, Stephen Colbert sent us another update to promote his upcoming takeover of the Late Show. This time, he announced his new band leader: Jon Batiste. In the video, Colbert chows down on a pile of pillowy beignets (in a nod to Batiste’s New Orleans–area roots) and gestures toward Batiste onstage: “I like this guy.”
Batiste is known as a talented keyboardist with a dynamic stage presence. And he and Colbert have a history together: Batiste and his band, Stay Human, appeared on The Colbert Report multiple times.
