The Roots Music Video for "Understand" Is a Marvel of Stop-Motion Animation

The Roots get weird in their video for "Understand."

Still from YouTube

We've heard several cuts off The Roots latest album, ...And Then You Shoot Your Cousin, but we now have a music video—a charming stop-motion adventure to the tune of standout track "Understand."

The video features a panoply of inaminate objects—a ball of dough and hundred-dollar bill, for example—come alive. There's also some strong religious imagery: collection plates, bibles, and communion wine all make an appearance, which makes sense given the spiritual, almost devotional aspects of the song. Enjoy.
