Well, North Korea is at it again. From CNN:
State news agency KCNA has announced that North Korea will set its clocks back by 30 minutes to “Pyongyang time” on August 15.
As always with North Korea, though, the humor is closely connected to something tragic—in this case, a belligerent grudge against Japan, which was responsible for changing the time zone of the entire Korean peninsula more than 100 years ago.
“The wicked Japanese imperialists committed such unpardonable crimes as depriving Korea of even its standard time while mercilessly trampling down its land with 5 000 year-long history and culture and pursuing the unheard-of policy of obliterating the Korean nation,” KCNA reported on Friday.
North Korea will now keep its clocks half an hour behind South Korea (and Japan).
