Slate Bob Dylan Contest

Official Rules
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.
ELIGIBILITY: The Slate Bob Dylan Contest ("Contest") is open only to legal residents of the 50 states of the United States, including the District of Columbia, who are above the age of majority at the time of entry. Employees and their immediate families, including household members, of Slate, Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive, and Columbia Records, and their parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, advertising, and promotion agencies are not eligible. Contest is void where prohibited by law.
TERM: The Contest begins on Dec. 8, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. EST and ends on December 15, 2006 at 11:59 p.m. EST (the "Entry Period").
SPONSOR:Slate, located at 1515 N. Courthouse Road, Suite 1100, Arlington, VA, 22201, is the sponsor of the Contest ("Sponsor").
HOW TO ENTER: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Entrants can enter the Contest by visiting the Contest Web site at http://www.slate.com/id/2155056 during the Entry Period. To participate, you must watch the Bob Dylan video for the song "Thunder on the Mountain" and examine a series of 20 numbered video stills from the video that are posted on the Contest Web site. Entrants must provide the year in which each of the 20 numbered video stills was originally recorded. Entrants must also submit an alternate verse for "Thunder on the Mountain."
Entries should be sent by e-mail to: slatedylancontest@gmail.com. A complete entry must include the following information: (1) a list of years corresponding to the 20 numbered video stills posted on the Contest Web site; (2) an alternate verse for "Thunder on the Mountain"; and (3) the Entrant's name, date of birth, mailing address, e-mail address, and phone number ("Entry").
LIMIT: Only one (1) Entry per person. Subsequent Entries will not be returned or considered by Sponsor.
Incomplete Entries will not be accepted. All Entries become the property of the Sponsor and, as such, Sponsor or its strategic partners will have the unrestricted right to use the Entry in any media and you agree to assign all rights, title and interest to your Entry to Sponsor and/or its strategic partners.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: By entering the Contest, you agree to these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements. You consent to Sponsor's use of your name for promotional purposes, including online announcements, without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law. Furthermore, by entering the Contest, you consent to the Sponsor's and its partner's, affiliates', and subsidiaries' use, reproduction, and display of the Entry without further compensation to you. Neither Sponsor, its parent, nor its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, advertising and promotion agencies, or any telephone network or service providers are responsible for the incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information; any human error, technical malfunctions, or lost/delayed data transmission; any omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, or software; inability to access any Web site or online service, or any other error or malfunction, or late, lost, or misdirected entries.
THE PRIZE: The winner of the Contest will receive a guitar ("Prize"). The approximate retail value of the Prize is $4,000-$6,000. No prize substitution, cash substitution, or assignment or transfer of the Prize is permitted, except by Sponsors for reason of unavailability in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded. No substitutions, exchanges, refunds or compensation will be made for any reason, including cancellation of the Contest. All taxes, costs, and fees associated with the Prize are the sole responsibility of the Winner.
HOW TO WIN: Sponsor will evaluate the Entries and select a potential winner on or about Dec. 20, 2006. Odds of winning depend on the skill of the Entrants and the number of Entries received by the Sponsor. To be selected as a potential winner, the Entrant must submit an Entry with the correct years for all 20 numbered video stills posted on the Contest Web site. If no Entry contains the correct years for all 20 numbered video stills posted on the Contest Web site, no winner will be selected and the Prize will not be awarded. If only one Entry contains the correct years for all 20 numbered video clips posted on the Contest Web site, the Entrant who submitted the only Entry will all the correct years will be selected as the potential winner.
In the event of a tie where more than one Entrant submits an Entry containing the correct years for all 20 numbered video clips posted on the Contest Web site, the potential winner will be selected by a panel of judges representing the digital media and editorial industries ("Judges"). The Judges will evaluate the Entrants' alternate verse of "Thunder on the Mountain" ("Alternate Verse") to determine the potential winner based upon the following criteria:

The Entry that receives the highest score by the Judges will be selected as the potential winner. The Judges' decisions are final with respect to all aspects of the Contest. The potential winner will be notified by e-mail and/or telephone, if available. The potential winner is required to sign an affidavit of eligibility/publicity and liability release, and return it properly executed, within 14 days of attempted notification as a condition of awarding the Prize. If the prize notification is returned as undeliverable or the potential winner fails to return the affidavit and release as specified, the potential winner will be disqualified and an alternate potential winner will be selected based on the criteria for the selection of the winner described herein. If, in Sponsors' opinion, there is any suspected or actual evidence of electronic or non-electronic tampering with any portion of the Contest, or if technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the Contest, the Sponsor reserves the right to terminate the Contest and/or conduct a random drawing to award the Prize using all entries received as of the termination date. Any attempt to deliberately damage the content or operation of this Contest is unlawful and subject to legal action by Sponsor or its agents.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. By participating, Entrants release the Sponsor, its affiliated, parent, and subsidiary companies and partners, its employees, agents and officers, advertising and promotion agencies, as well as all others associated with the development and execution of this Contest, from and against any and all liability with respect to, or in any way arising from, the Contest and the awarding and use of the Prize. Entrant releases the Sponsor in case of abuse from any and all liability from third parties and agrees to indemnify the Sponsor for all loss, damage, costs, or claims related to this abuse.
PRIVACY: By entering the Contest, you agree to Sponsor's use of your personal information, as described in the Slate Privacy Policy, located at http://www.slate.com/id/2111949/. Sponsor will collect personal data about Entrants when they enter the Contest. Sponsor may, at its discretion, share your personal information with its partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, or other third parties whose products and services Sponsor believes may be of interest to you. If you do not want your personal information shared with any third party (outside of the fulfillment of the Contest) please e-mail Sponsor at slatedylancontest@gmail.com and ask the Sponsor not to share your personal data, using the subject line "Opt Out". GENERAL: This Contest is subject to all U.S. federal, state, and local laws. Entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding on all matters relating to the Contest. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other errors in the printing of the offer, administration of the Contest, or the announcement of the Prize, or for lost, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete, or illegal entries. The Sponsor reserves the right to verify the eligibility qualifications of the winner(s). The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel the Contest at anytime.
WINNERS LIST: The names of the winner(s) will be posted to the Web site, www.slate.com.
