Mitt Romney is rising in the polls, and that seems to have irritated John McCain, especially because he thinks Romney is a phony. So, when Romney tried to use the immigration bill that McCain supports to beat up the Arizona senator, McCain fired back by cracking wise about what he sees as Romney's convenient changes of position. Here's how the exchange has played out:

He's back. Bill Clinton has been quietly working on his wife's campaign for months, dialing old friends to secure their support, attending fund-raisers, and kibitzing quietly on strategy. Now he's moved into the spotlight a little more, putting himself at the center of a Web video touting his wife. He talks about her dedication to public service and, most of all, her tireless hard work in much the same way he used to talk about himself. As you'll see in our Damned Spot video, there are other parallels with his past as well.

The politics of McCain's Iran ditty.

John McCain is enjoying his first big YouTube moment of the presidential campaign. He made a joke about bombing Iran at a town hall in South Carolina, it was captured on video, and the liberal group MoveOn.org immediately pounced, turning it into a television ad. Does being attacked by the liberal organization help or hurt the Republican candidate? Sometimes, in politics, your enemies can be your best friends. Watch the video here:

Giuliani's first campaign spot.

Rudy Giuliani has released the first advertisement of his presidential campaign. It's a radio ad running on conservative talk shows. Giuliani's ahead in the polls, but his lead is shrinking. Part of the reason is that conservatives, who make up the bulk of his party, don't think he's one of them. He's pro-choice, pro-gay rights, and anti-gun. His private life is also messy. So, Giuliani's first ad tries to address all of those concerns … by ignoring them. Watch this Damned Spot video to see how Rudy is changing the subject.
