American Rhapsody, screenwriter Joe Eszterhas' tell-all memoir roasting the Clintons, Hollywood, and everything in between, hits bookstores today. In 1998, Slate's David Plotz explained how Eszterhas, a schlocky B-movie writer with titles like Showgirls and Basic Instinct to his credit, became an A-list celebrity.
