Have you checked out our new Slate personalization service, MySlate? Click here to read about it and here to go straight to it. Many Slate readers have tried it and responded with tears of gratitude. A few have responded with tears of frustration. Here are a few small pointers in response to constructive criticism:
1. "How the heck do I get there after I've set it up?" We'll be adding a more prominent link from the home page, but meanwhile, MySlate is accessible by a) clicking "Utilities" at the top right of any Slate page and choosing "MySlate"; or b) clicking the "MySlate" icon below the title of any article and choosing "Open MySlate."
2. "Why can't I read MySlate on my Rocket eBook?" You can. Here's how: In MySlate, select the articles you wish to include and choose "Save/On my computer." This will create a file you can just drag 'n' drop into your Rocket Library. (Hint: Put a shortcut to Rocket Librarian on your desktop and save the Slate file to the desktop too. When you drag 'n' drop the Slate file onto the Rocket shortcut, this will add the file to your library automatically. And if your Rocket eBook is in the docking station, this will automatically download your Slate file into the eBook.
3. "Why isn't MySlate built into the Table of Contents? Why do I have to go to a separate page to add articles, print them, and so on?" Good question! We're planning to do this in the next version. Meanwhile, though, if you wish, you can use the MySlate page as your Slate Table of Contents. Here is the link:
Just drag 'n' drop it to your desktop to create a shortcut, or (in Internet Explorer) right-click and choose "Add to Favorites."
In MySlate, choose "Add/All New Articles" to add everything on the current Table of Contents. (To clear old stuff out before you do this, click "Select All" and then "Delete.") The article titles and subheads are all exactly as they appear in the real Table of Contents and they are hot-linked to the articles themselves in the same way.
4. "That voice in the audio version of MySlate—is it a joke, or what?" Let's just call it a work in progress.
