Page views count the number of times a single Web page is viewed by users, but does not determine whether the same user is looking at the page more than once. Hits, considered a less accurate measure, count when the HTML page itself is downloaded as well as every image on the page. So one page view is only one hit if there are no graphics. A user who downloads a Web page with three graphics counts as one page view but four hits.
