The tobacco deal is based on the thought that smoking is bad. Sure, it's bad for you, but can't it be fun, too? This 1997 Slate essay looks at songs about the joy of a good smoke. Smoking has been fodder for pop songs from the 1600s to present-day singer kd lang.
