
When a 1995 fire decimated a Malden Mills factory right around Christmastime, Malden owner Aaron Feuerstein didn't lay off a single worker. Instead, he continued to pay them, at wages already higher than the industry average, even while the mill was being rebuilt and they couldn't work.
