Joyce Maynard is making headlines again, this time by auctioning off 14 love letters written to her by J.D. Salinger. The last time she made headlines, it was for writing a book about her love affair with the famously reclusive Salinger. Alex Beam, a college classmate of Maynard's, wrote an essay for Slate on the sad tale of The Woman Who Mistook Herself for Something Interesting.
