Slobodan MilosevicSlobodan Milosevic
By Franklin FoerPosted Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, at 3:30 AM ET
NATO forces are now contemplating military intervention in Kosovo. Yugoslavian President Slobodan Milosevic has ordered most of his "security forces" to retreat from the province. Is this another attempt by Milosevic to play the Americans for fools? As Franklin Foer wrote in Slate earlier this year, the Butcher of the Balkans isn't exactly known for his sincerity.
Franklin Foer is a senior editor at the New Republic and a contributing editor at New York. He is the author of How Soccer Explains the World.
