Pink Elephants Ready To Stampede

Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin are hinting at presidential runs. We compare and contrast.

On May 26, potential presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) explained her relationship with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. “I consider Governor Palin a friend and I have great respect for Governor Palin,” she said. “But, again, I don’t believe that any two candidates are interchangeable. I believe each one of us brings our own unique skill set into this race.”

Just how unique are the two candidates? For starters, both the women are pink elephants, the cutesy term Palin employed at an April 2010 rally to describe the GOP’s feisty female contingent. “Someone had better tell Washington that the pink elephant is on the move, and Michele is leading the stampede!” Palin told a crowd of supporters at April’s campaign rally. That’s certainly not all the two women have in common. We’ve plotted some of their recent moves to track their relative interchangeability.
