In the Oct. 14 "Architecture," Witold Rybczynski described Matisse's Joy of Life as a mural and said it was exhibited in the central hall of the original Barnes Foundation. Joy of Life is a painting and hangs in a staircase landing.

In the Oct. 12 "Books," Juliet Lapidos referred to the narrator of The New Robinson Crusoes as a teenage boy. She's a teenage girl. The English translation actually never specifies the narrator's sex. But in Russian verbs are gendered, making it clear that the speaker is female.

In the Oct. 9 "Fashion," Josh Patner misspelled Giambattista Valli, Hôtel de Crillon, and St. Germain des Prés.

In the Oct. 9 "History Lesson," David Greenberg originally stated that Gen. Douglas MacArthur made his famous vow—"I shall return"—57 years ago. He made it 67 years ago.

In the Oct. 8 "Television" column, Troy Patterson originally stated that I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant airs on Discovery Health on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET. New episodes of the series air on TLC on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET; Discovery Health shows reruns.
