Introducing "Open Book"A literary video collaboration between Slate and NYU.
Posted Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at 10:47 AM ET
We at Slate love writers. There's no two ways about it. And since we've started our very own mini-television network, Slate V, we now get to put some of our favorite authors and poets on-screen.
Welcome to "Open Book: Writers on Writing," a collaboration between Slate and the Creative Writing Program in the School of Arts & Science at New York University. In our first episode, NYU's Deborah Landau and Slate's Meghan O'Rourke sit down with Junot Díaz, who recently won this year's Pulitzer Prize for fiction for his novel The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.

You can also watch the entire interview here.
The "Open Book" series invites writers to talk about the craft, complexity, and frustrations of bringing ideas to life on the page. Over the coming months, we'll present interviews with John Ashbery, Jonathan Safran Foer, Charles Simic, and many other distinguished authors and poets. All the videos will be collected at www.slatev.com/openbook.
Thanks to Journalism at NYU, in whose studios "Open Book" is recorded.
