Although it took the top box-office slot in its first weekend, The Incredible Hulk made nearly $8 million less in its first weekend than the original, which opened in 2003 with a $62.1 million weekend. The real measure of the new movie's success will be staying power—ticket sales dropped sharply for Ang Lee's Hulk, leaving it a few million short of its estimated $137 million budget in the United States, but pulling in enough sales overseas (around $100 million more) to make it a moderate success.
