Claremont Graduate University announced yesterday that it would be presenting its 2008 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award to Tom Sleigh, for his 2007 collection Space Walk. The award, granted annually to a single work by a mid-career poet, is one of the nation’s most lucrative poetry prizes. Tom Sleigh is a professor of creative writing at New York’s Hunter College and the author of seven books of poetry, a book of essays, and a translation of Euripides’ Herakles.
