
Obama's Music Video
After watching Barack Obama's New Hampshire primary concession speech on Jan. 8, Will.i.am, lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas, and producer Jesse Dylan, eldest son of Bob Dylan, decided to produce a pro-Obama music video titled "Yes We Can." The video features John Legend, Scarlett Johansson, Herbie Hancock, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and many other celebrities. Will.i.am writes in his blog (below) that recording the four-minute video (posted at www.yeswecansong.com) took about 48 hours. On Feb. 2, somebody posted the video on youtube.com, where it has already garnered millions of hits.
Will.i.am and Dylan assured ABC News that they did not give the Obama campaign any advance notice of their project. After it surfaced, the video was posted on the Obama08 campaign Web site and e-mailed to Moveon.org contributors (Page 2). The candidate's wife, Michelle, forwarded "Yes We Can" to Obama supporters (Page 3) just in time for the February 5th primaries and caucuses in 22 states.
