The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in 2007 reported that 11 of the last 12 years ranked among the 12 warmest recorded years; the temperatures of the oceans are warming; precipitation has increased in some areas and drought in others; and extreme events, including heat waves and storms, will become more frequent.
