Due to an editing error, the Dec. 19 "Faith-Based" incorrectly stated that this is the first time a Mormon and a Southern Baptist have competed for the White House. Mo Udall was a nonpracticing Mormon when he ran against Jimmy Carter for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1976.

In the Dec. 18 "Books," Emily Wilson misspelled the word swot as swat.

In the Dec. 18 "Moneybox," Daniel Gross mistakenly referred to chip maker AMD as ADM.

In the Dec. 18 "Green Lantern," Brendan I. Koerner wrote that real trees would have to average a farm-to-retailer journey of 4.1 miles in order to consume 2,195 pounds of fuel. That distance is actually 146.3 miles.

In the Dec. 17 "Today's Papers," Daniel Politi incorrectly identified Sen. Joe Lieberman as a Democrat. He is an independent who caucuses with the Democrats.

In the Dec. 17 "Today's Blogs," Bidisha Banerjee misspelled the name of blogger Chuck Tryon.


In the Dec. 17 "Politics," John Dickerson incorrectly said that James Garfield was assassinated three weeks into his term. He was assassinated three months into his term.

In the Dec. 15 "Today's Papers," Arthur Delaney mistakenly stated that the federal debt could rise by $240 million. The figure is $240 billion. He also mistakenly referred to tax hikes as tax cuts.

In the Dec. 13 "DVD Extras," John Swansburg misspelled the name Fourier.
