Remarks from the Fray:

After reading this article and Bruce Reed's companion piece, I was struck by this bizarre notion of a speech writers' code where they are not supposed to reveal that they authored the president's speeches. Apparently this is done to maintain the illusion that the words belong to the president.

Um, maybe I just watched the West Wing too much, but I was never under the delusion that president had anything to do with the words he spoke. Does anyone really think the president makes up all that stuff? Actually, I would be upset if he wasted his valuable time simply writing speeches.

So, assuming Mike Gerson actually wrote the words, what's wrong with him seeking glory? God knows everyone else in politics does.
