 | As the BDP/Shan spat shows, it's never taken much to touch off a beef, but the Internet has further compressed the distance between molehill and mountain. This February, 50 Cent appeared on a New York radio show and goaded his rivals to call in and chat. A testy Cam'ron complied. After some rather toothless sparring on the radio, the beef soon migrated to the Web. The first salvo came from 50 in the form of "Funeral Music," a video filmed on the grounds of his Farmington, Conn., estate. Even in an era of MTV Cribs-inspired self-congratulation, this glimpse into 50's home is bizarre. While the accompanying song is ostensibly an attack on Cam'ron—an establishing shot shows a hearse carrying "Cam'ron's Career"—the video's real star is 50's house. In fact, it quickly becomes clear that the clip has nothing at all to do with Cam, unless the idea is to show-and-tell him to death. The weak music takes a backseat to a tacky parade of images: a garage filled with all-terrain vehicles and another one that appears to have been converted into a cramped shooting range. | | | |
