Jurisprudence: Justices Reject Race as Factor in School Placement
The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that race could not be used to assign students to public schools. We hear from legal analyst Dahlia Lithwick and two parents in the school districts affected by the decision. Listen to the segment.
Jurisprudence: Supreme Court Term Defined by Close Splits
The 2006-2007 Supreme Court term was the first full one for Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito. In a term where many major decisions were 5-4 splits, the court demonstrated a trend toward the right. Legal analyst Dahlia Lithwick wraps up the term with Madeleine Brand and Anthony Brooks. Jurisprudence: High Court Hands Down Free-Speech Rulings
The Supreme Court entered its last week of the term Monday with three major First Amendment decisions. They included one rejecting a student's free speech rights to hold a sign that reads "Bong Hits for Jesus." Another said the president could not be sued for his faith-based initiative.
