The Rule of ThreesSanjaya, Gonzales, Wolfowitz.

Sanjaya Malakar, Alberto Gonzales and Paul Wolfowitz. These things always happen in threes. Can it really be a coincidence that the undertalented and overcoiffed Sanjaya was finally voted off American Idol the night before the undertruthful and overprotected Alberto Gonzales was due to be disembowled by the Senate judiciary committee? Meanwhile, the undersocked and overconfident World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz is attempting to shore up his dwindling support by hinting that he may toss overboard his two loyal enforcers, Robin Cleveland and Kevin Kellems. This will only increase his pursuers' taste for blood.

[Update, 2:20 p.m. EDT: A Slate colleague reminds me that the underinhibited and overindulged Don Imus went down just a week ago. So perhaps the Fates will spare Wolfowitz. But I doubt it.]
